We spent the last half of spring break near Branson, Missouri at Big Cedar Lodge Resort. It was a wonderful break from the daily grind and being in the country is always rejuvenating. We met some of our friends that now live in Kansas City and their 4 kids there, it was wonderful getting to spend time with the Lask Family despite the WILDNESS at times with 6 kids! I really can't say enough about how wonderful Big Cedar was, there was endless things to do barring good weather. The kids had a blast even though the one thing they wanted to do most going horseback riding wasn't possible the day we had reservations because of the rain, but they made up for it at the indoor pool. One of the highlights for the kids was the old fashioned hedge wagon ride to a bonfire where the kids got to have a marshmallow fight with the adults. At the bonfire there was sassparilla and cream soda to drink and lots of marshmallows to roast while listening to the cowboy play his guitar and sing...it was just like Bonanza!
We decided the last day we were there to go into Branson and see what it was all about. We went to the IMAX and saw under the sea...so cool, the Ripley's museum and the race track. Mary-Grace got to drive a go cart for the first time now that she is tall enough! I am so proud of her, she desperately wanted to do it but was afraid of all the older kids....actually I was too. She did so great and wanted to go again and again...despite the fact that she hasn't gotten the hang of parking without slamming into the person in front of her (thank goodness they didn't mind) you know the rule "no bumping" well that's a work in progress!
It was a great time and I highly recommend it, especially in the early or late summer months.
